Sales Engineer

The engineering team at Galactic Fog brings together world-class experts to develop and launch groundbreaking products at the intersection of infrastructure, software and operations. We enable application delivery at scale. In particular, we design systems that define new ways for companies and developers to transition to the CaaS and FaaS future. The Sales Engineer will be a bridge between our enterprise sales team and our engineering organization. This position will work to understand and document use cases for both prospective and newly signed partners and act as the voice of our sales team during product roadmap discussions. This is a hands on role and the ideal candidate will have full-stack experience and have worked with CaaS and FaaS (serverless/Lambda) solutions previously. This is a full-time position based in our New York, NY office.


  • Working with customers, partners, and prospects to understand and propose solutions
  • Partner with the Sales team to design and pitch solutions that contribute towards winning deals
  • Manage the technical sales process for numerous customers day to day
  • Work with the product team to map customer requirements to current and future initiatives
  • Focus on customer satisfaction and success
  • Continuously learn and update skills in quickly evolving technologies
  • Architect open-ended solutions in an elegant and scalable manner
  • Present technical solutions to clients and handling technical sales questions

Minimum Qualifications

  • 4+ years technical experience plus 4+ years customer facing experience
  • Hands-on, technical, problem solver
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems
  • Comfortable working with and having technical discussions with customers
  • Experience and comfort with public speaking, and giving pitches
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and understanding customer business requirements
  • Knowledge of distributed systems
  • Familiarity with several of the following:
  • Distributed systems: Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, Zookeeper, Kafka, Cassandra, Microservice architectures
  • Programming languages: Scala, C, C++, Java, Python, Ruby, Bash
  • Datacenter operations: provisioning, capacity planning, network design
  • Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and ideally one or more NoSQL data stores (Redis, MongoDB)
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and web services and REST APIs
  • Experience with cloud-based services (Amazon AWS, GCP, Azure)

Bonus Points

  • Experience with distributed data-processing system, such as the Hadoop ecosystem, TensorFlow, and/or Spark
  • Knowledge of the architecture of functional applications based on lambda/FaaS functions
  • Experience with developing and deploying applications using containerization platforms (specifically, Docker)
  • Experience with distributed container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, DCOS/Mesos, Docker Swarm)
